Characteristics
Plant
attached to substratum by a very small basal disc. Stipe short, compressed,
cuneate, expanding in broad thallus; thallus flat, oblong to linear,
extensively divided, tough, slippery, large, raching considerable
dimension to more than one meter, 7 - 30 cm or more broad at broadest
part, 300 - 350 µ thick; lobes of thallus many, margin irregularly
sinuate, tips gradually tapering. Rhizoids 3 -4 µ thick; outer
medulla more compact than inner; cortex many layered, cystocarp dispersed
throughout the thallus, subspherical to spherical, occasionally flattened,
250 micron in diameter.
